Detroit Bus Accident - Michigan Wrongful Death Lawsuit Settles

Posted on Mar 09, 2011
A Detroit wrongful death lawsuit was recently settled for $1.75 Million Dollars against the City of Detroit Department of Transportation and the bus driver involved in the accident. The bus accident occurred when an SUV holding many passengers lost a tire on Interstate 94. Several of the passengers exited the vehicle and were standing on the shoulder, when a bus, owned and operated by the City of Detroit, struck the vehicle as well as the passengers, killing one of them.

The City of Detroit argued that the bus-pedestrian accident was in fact not the bus drivers fault but the fault of the passengers and the driver of the incapacitated SUV.  However, after extended negotiations and witness investigations, the City of Detroit's arguments were proven false.
