Child Birth Malpractice Jury Award

Posted on Jan 17, 2008
A jury in Cook County, Illinois rendered a record verdict to the family of a woman who died from child birth complications during her delivery at an Evanston hospital.  Her son was delivered by C-section and survived, but the mother was placed on a ventilator and died four days later.  The family's attorney argued that the hospital was negligent for failing to treat the woman with proper medication.  The verdict is to compensate the family for the loss of society and companionship of the mother and wife and for the loss of her income over her lifetime.
