A lawsuit was filed against the bar that sold the intoxicated driver the alcohol before the accident under the Michigan Dram Shop Act. Witnesses who were at the bar on the night of the accident were located and testified that the waitress at the bar served alchohol to the drunk driver before the accident and that he was visibly intoxicated when served the drinks. The case settled before trial.
