Anesthesiology Brain Injury Lawsuit Settles-Hypoxic Ischemic Brain Injury

Posted on Nov 24, 2009
A Michigan medical malpractice lawsuit recently settled for in excess of $3 million against a Michigan hospital.  The paitent suffered hypoxic ischemia while in the post-anesthesia unit after undergoing an elective low-anterior colon resection.  While in that unit, she was administered an unapproved epidural and became hypotensive.  The suit alleged that the hospital was negligent and that rescusictation was not timely provided and the patient suffered a permanent brain injury.  The case settled before trial.
