What Are Process Server Companies?
Process servers are primarily responsible for delivering or serving legal documents to a defendant or other person involved in a court case. Process servers may also file court papers and retrieve other documents related to a case.
The MCODSA offers three different certifications for process servers: Certified Process Server, Certified Eviction Specialist, and Certified Court Officer. Recipients must enroll in annual continuing education to maintain certification status.
Many Michigan courts require process servers to attend MCODSA educational programs, and some courts are beginning to require certification status as well.
