We Pay Referral Fees for Medical Malpractice Cases
Our medical malpractice cases are generally handled on a one-third contingency fee basis. One exception to the one-third fee are Veteran Hospital (VA) malpractice cases because there are lower fees prescribed by the Federal Tort Claims Act. We strictly adhere to those statutory fees.
We are required by state law to deduct the expenses of a case from the total settlement amount before we calculate this contingent fee. The referring attorney generally receives a one-third referral fee from our firm attorney fee. This is promised in writing as soon as we are retained by a client. Additionally, our case management software confirms the source of the referral.
Is the Referral Attorney required to Work on the Case?
No. The referral attorney is not required to perform any work on a case or file an appearance as co-counsel. The simple act of making the referral is all that is needed.
