What is an indpendent medical examination (IME) and why do I have to go to the exam if I am in a Michigan car accident?
Indepedent Medical Examinations are set up by insurance companies to have accident and injury victims evaluated by their doctors. The exams are not really independent and neither are the doctors, who are paid handsome sums of money to help the insurance company terminate insurance benefits. You are required to go to the exam under the Michigan No-Fault Insurance Laws. If your benefits are cutoff after one of these bogus exams, you should call our office so that we can file a lawsuit against your insurance company to recover your unpaid benefits.
