Our auto accident attorneys recently won an arbitration award against AAA Insurance Company for an underinsured motorists claim. Our client suffered injuries in a Macomb County car accident caused by a careless driver. He suffered injuries in that accident, which included injuries to his back and neck that did not require surgery. We were able to reach a settlement against the negligent driver for $50,000.00.
We then pursued an underinsurance claim against our client’s own insurance company, AAA of Michigan. In Michigan, most auto insurance companies offer underinsurance motorist coverage which provides protection to you and your family in situations where you are involved in a car accident with another car which did not have enough liability insurance coverage to cover your damages and injuries.
We filed the lawsuit in the Macomb County Circuit Court but the matter was then sent to binding arbitration under the terms of the insurance policy agreement. After an arbitration hearing, the panel awarded $20,000.00 to our client on the underinsurance claim. The total settlement received by the client was $ 70,000.00 between the two claims.
