Tractor-Trailer Accident Verdict - Michigan Truck Driver Accident -Detroit Accident

A jury in the Wayne County Circuit Court in Detroit, Michigan recently awarded an accident victim a verdict of $330,000 against a truck driving and trucking company.  The accident victim suffered very serious injuries when a container on a tractor-trailer was too tall and struck an overpass, causing the truck to strike the victim's car.  The driver was forced to lose control of her car and strike an embankment.  She suffered a comminuted right patellar fracture and underwent an ORIF procedure.

The trucking company denied liability for the accident, but truck company employees admitted at trial that the driver was responsible to ensure that the load was safe for the route he was travelling.  The truck company offered only $45,000 to compensate the accident victim prior to trial for her severe injuries.  The jury agreed with the victim that the truck driver and trucking company were negligent and that she suffered a serious injury.  The award of $330,000 was given to compensate the victim for past and future pain and suffering, loss of enjoyment of life, and disability.
