Our Michigan medical malpractice lawyers recently filed a podiatry malpractice case against a local podiatrist for his alleged failure to properly diagnose and treat a diabetic foot ulcer. The patient presented to his office on numerous occasions with evidence of a foot infection that was not properly treated. The podiatrist also failed to refer the patient to an infectious disease doctor or wound care specialist for treatment.
Unfortunately, as a result of this malpractice, the patient was required to have his entire right foot amputated. Our medical malpractice lawyers will be pursuing such case in an effort to recover both the pain and suffering that the patient has gone through as a result of the amputation, as well as the out-of-pocket expenses and loss of income the patient has endured as a result of his right foot. A claim for medical expenses is also sought. This was filed in Livingston County Circuit Court.
