Michigan Lawyer Settled Pedestrian Accident Lawsuit for Facial Scar

Our pedestrian accident lawyers in Michigan recently settled a lawsuit for a woman who was injured in a Detroit accident.  She was crossing the street after being dropped off at a bus stop and was hit by a car.  She suffered multiple injuries which resolved, but did have a permanent facial scar near her top lip.  She also suffered from psychological injuries from the accident, which included excessive fear from crossing the street.

We filed a pedestrian accident lawsuit for her in the Wayne County Circuit Court in Detroit, Michigan.  The lawsuit alleged damages for the permanent scar and psychological damages.  The case settled before trial for $35,000.00 and will be paid by State Farm Insurance Company, the insurance company for the negligent driver.  The insurance company had previously paid her medical bills and lost wages related to missing time from work for the accident.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) says that over 60,000 pedestrians were injured in car accidents in 2006. Hitting a pedestrian at a speed of over 30 miles per hour can result in more serious injuries and fatalities. Nearly 22% of car accidents are a result from a pedestrian hit by a car with pedestrians being more than twice as likely to be struck by a vehicle in locations without sidewalks.
