Grand Rapids School Bus Accident | Grand Rapids Accident Lawyers

A Grand Rapids school bus accident has sent several children to the hospital.  The accident occurred on February 6, 2009 near the intersection of Grandville Avenue and Goodrich Street SE when the bus driver attempted to make a right turn and turned into a car driven by Rich Gotch.  Several children were taken to the hospital with what were believed to be minor injuries.  All of them were second graders at Cesar Chavez Elementary School.  Also injured was Tammy Bildaer, a second grade teacher.  Rich Gotch was not injured and the bus driver was ticketed.

I am very sorry this accident occurred, and I hope that all the children's injuries were in fact minor.  I hope they recover quickly.  I am also very glad no one was more seriously hurt.

Many people do not realize that children are covered by their parents' car insurance.  Normally, as long as a child resides with at least one insured parent or guardian, that child can submit a claim for Michigan No Fault insurance benefits to the insured parent's insurance company.  No Fault insurance will pay all reasonable and necessary medical expenses caused by the accident regardless of who caused the accident or how it occurred.  In addition, a child who is severely injured in a bus accident might be able to sue the bus driver or school, but thankfully that does not appear to be necessary here.
