Wrongful Death Lawsuit Filed For Fatal Grand Rapids Bicycle Accident

Kent County Bicycle Accident LawsuitOur West Michigan wrongful death attorneys filed a wrongful death lawsuit in the Kent County Circuit Court arising out of a fatal bicycle accident.   The bicyclist was struck and killed while riding his bike on the sidewalk adjacent to Eastern Ave. at the intersection of Ken O Sha Industrial in Grand Rapids.

The decedent was returning to his home after buying bread at the family dollar store.  He was 64 years old at the time of his death.  The defendant driver had just finished work and was driving a large pick-up truck.  The defendant claims that never saw the bicyclist before his struck his bike.  The decedent and his bike were dragged onto Eastern Ave before the truck stopped.

The incident was investigated by the Grand Rapids Police Department.  It was determined that our client had the right-of-way while riding his bike in the roadway. The lawsuit was filed in the Kent County Circuit Court.  No trial date has been set.

The lawsuit seeks compensation under the Michigan wrongful death statute. Settlements for these cases include payment for pain and suffering to the decedent before his death, loss of society and companionship to the family, and funeral and burial expenses.  The negligent driver had insurance and his company is expected to pay a significant settlement.
