Dog Bite Injuries

With Spring in full swing, the number of dogs out in public is increasing.  Dog owners bring their canines to parks, shopping malls, and even to work.  Dogs often escape from their homes and backyards and wander the streets.  This can be a recipe for disaster.

The Center for Disease Control lists some statistics about dog bite injuries in the United States.  Quite frankly, they are staggering.  Check out these numbers.

  • About 4.5 million people are bitten by dogs each year.
  • Almost one in five of those who are bitten :a total of 885,000: require medical attention for dog bite-related injuries.
  • In 2006, more than 31,000 people underwent reconstructive surgery as a result of being bitten by dogs.

The Michigan dog bite lawyers at my law firm represent dog bite injury victims throughout the State of Michigan.  The injuries and damages suffered in dog attacks is often substantial, resulting in scars, disfigurement, nerve damage, and even broken bones.  There is also a signficant psychological component to these attacks and many victims suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder.  As a result, many of our cases result in substantial settlements for our clients to compensate them for their injuries and damages.
