Detroit Medical Malpractice Attorney Files Spinal Surgery Lawsuit – Cauda Equina Syndrome

Our Detroit medical malpractice attorneys recently filed a lawsuit  against a Wayne County Hospital  and two physicians for their failure to properly diagnose and treat several herniated discs in a fifty-two year old man’s cervical spine.  As a result of such failure to diagnose and timely treat his condition, the discs compressed his spinal cord resulting in him sustaining severe and permanent neurologic injuries.    Due to the delay in diagnosing his condition, he developed Cauda Equina Syndrome and has been left with severe limitations in his lower extremities and right hand.

The medical malpractice lawsuit claims that if the patient had received proper and timely surgical treatment, he would not have sustained any paralysis and would be functioning normally today.  He required additional surgeries and lengthy hospitalizations.  Despite those surgeries and intensive physical rehabilitation, he has not been able to return to his previous level of functioning and activities of daily living.

Our medical malpractice lawyers will be pursuing such case in an effort to recover both the pain and suffering that the patient endured as a result of the alleged negligence, as well as the significant economic losses he has sustained from not being able to work and the expected  cost of his future care and treatment.  The lawsuit was filed in the Wayne County Circuit Court located in Detroit, Michigan.  No trial date has been set by the court.
