Meaghan B. McKay earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science in 2007 from The University of Michigan – Ann Arbor with a minor in Cultural Anthropology. Thereafter, she earned her Juris Doctorate degree in 2011 from The University of Toledo – College of Law.
Prior to joining Buckfire & Buckfire, Meaghan worked for four years as a trial attorney at another Michigan personal injury law firm. She has also previously worked for two different insurance defense firms.
Meaghan has successfully represented clients in the circuit and district courts of this State, as well as in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, the Michigan Court of Appeals and the Michigan Supreme Court. She possesses extensive experience litigating all aspects of third-party automobile negligence claims and first-party Michigan No-Fault claims. As a litigator with a proven track record, Meaghan has successfully first-chaired multiple trials, conducted numerous de bene esse expert witness depositions, argued and won many dispositive motions, and favorably handled countless case evaluation, facilitation, and arbitration hearings. Meaghan’s significant trial and appellate decisions include Weigandt v. Farm Bureau Gen. Ins. Co. of Mich., 54 F. Supp. 3d 756 (E.D. Mich. 2014) and Jesperson v. Auto Club Ins. Ass’n., 497 Mich. 987 (2015).

In her spare time, Meaghan enjoys spending time with her family at their home on Middle Straights Lake. Incidentally, she also loves boating and having bonfires. Meaghan is passionate about attending live music shows, particularly live brass band music, and she and her husband travel to New Orleans several times a year to take in the music scene. Meaghan has two Jack Russell Terriers - Ellie and Sadie – and a 90 gallon saltwater fish and coral tank.
