There is apparently a chemical in the toy similiar to the "date rape drug" that can cause significant harm if ingested by a child. The toy, manufactured in China, is being recalled from store shelves. Parents who already have the toy in their home are encouraged to return it to the store of purchase or remove it from the home. For children over the age of four playing with the toy, parents are encouraged to closely supervise children using the beads.

Cunsumers need to be on the lookout for another E-coli poisoning fear. General Mills has recalled almost five million Totino's and Jeno's frozen pizzas with pepperoni toppings because the pepperoni may be contaminated with E. coli. The possible E. coli contamination was uncovered by state and federal authorities investigating 21 E. coli-related illnesses in 10 states.
General Mills said nine of the 21 people who became ill between July 20 and October 10 have reported having eaten Totino's or Jeno's pizza with pepperoni topping at some point before becoming ill.

A seventy-five year old woman who was hospitalized at Henry Ford Macomb Hsopital after a heart attack suffered serious facial burns due to a medical mistake. The woman, who does not speak English, fell out of her bed and suffered facial injuries, including lacerations and a broken nose.
While attempting the cauterize the wounds, the medical staff neglected to remove her oxygen mask. As one could predict, this started a fire directly in her face and caused significant burn injuries. The hospital acknowledged their negligence and promises to accept accountability, but their actual intentions remain to be seen at this time.

The number of recalls due to lead paint found in toys, jewelry, and other children's products keeps growing. Almost all of these products were manufactured in China and imported by large retail stores for sale to the general public. A Yahoo news article today listed the most recent recalls for all of these products, which include:

• Happy Giddy Gardening Tools and Children's Sunny Patch Chairs, imported by Target Corp. of Minneapolis, Minn. http://www.target.com.
• About 200,000 Thomas and Friends Wood Railway Toys and 800 Britain's "Knights of the Sword" series toys, distributed by RC2 Corp., of Oak Brook, Ill. http://recalls.rc2.com.
