Zimmer Knee NexGen Component Recall Lawsuits

zimmer nexgen knee replacement recall and lawsuitsZimmer's NexGen knee replacement product line has been the subject of controversy as many of the components have been recalled due to do injuries believed to be related to the implants. The MIS tibial component that was used in NexGen Flex knee procedures was recalled in September of 2010 due to increased complains of device failure. Shortly after this recall, another NexGen component, the LPS-Flex was recalled by the FDA stating that the implants had "nonconforming geometry" which was leading to bone fracture and ultimately, device failure.

Component Loosening & Device Failure

Component loosening is a serious complication that has been associated with the Zimmer NexGen implants. Over time, normal wear and tear on the device can cause the components in the implant to loosen from their intended locations. When this occurs, the risk of infection in the area increases greatly. Additionally, component loosening can cause extreme pain. In most cases, revision surgery is required to realign and correct the implant. It is important to contact your physician immediately if you believe component loosening may be occurring in your artificial knee device.
