These traffic crashes was high keeping in view the recorded Million VMT figure of 19,200, the highest in the region.
Age of Accident Victims
The average age of the drivers who were involved in accidents in the State of Michigan were 35.1 years and over 23.4% of the fatal accidents in the state were involving persons in the age group 16 to 24. The young drivers in Wayne County however accounted for 31% of the accidents (refer fig 42 of the report). This was the lowest amongst the other regions of the state.
