Our Michigan dog bite attorneys recently filed a lawsuit on behalf of a one year old girl who suffered serious injuries from a dog bite that occurred in Sturgis, Michigan. The attack occurred at the home of a family friend who was dog-sitting the pit bull at issue. The dog, without provocation, attacked the toddler while she and her mother were visiting the family friend. Our client, the toddler, suffered serious injuries in the attack.
The defendant dog-sitter had insurance through Auto Owners which provides her coverage in this matter.
Our client, the toddler, suffered serious injuries which included two large bite marks on her cheek and one bite mark on her forehead from the attack, all of which have left conspicuous and serious scarring. A plastic surgeon has opined that the scarring is permanent in nature. She will need plastic surgery in the future to improve the scars.
The dog bite lawsuit seeks damages for the pain and suffering damages, outstanding medical expenses related to the toddler’s treatment and care, and damages related to the residual scarring that the dog bites left on the toddlers face and forehead. The lawsuit also seeks damages for the medical expenses related to future plastic surgery. The case was filed in the St. Joseph County Circuit Court in Centreville, Michigan. No trial date has been set by the court.
