A St. Clair County car accident has resulted in the death of a Capac woman. Michelle Chandler, 35, was killed after an accident on January 27, 2009 on I-69 near Wadhams Road when her car left the road along the south shoulder and rolled over. Michelle Chandler was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead on the scene. She was not wearing a seatbelt. Her passenger, Tangela Demetroff, 33, of Emmett was taken to Port Huron Hospital for treatment. Police are still investigating the accident and are waiting on a toxicology report for Michelle Chandler.
I am very sorry for the Chandler family's loss and I want to express my sympathies to them. I also hope that Tangela Demetroff is able to recovery completely from her injuries.
In a rollover accident like this one, both Michelle Chandler's family and Tangela Demetroff can submit a claim for Michigan No Fault insurance benefits. For the Chandlers, a No Fault survivor loss claim would provide them with a payment for a portion of the funeral as well as payments for loss of financial support and loss of household services.
For Tangela Demetroff, a No Fault claim would pay for the hospital bill and any reasonable and necessary medical expenses for follow-up treatment. No Fault insurance would also pay wage loss benefits if she has to miss work and other benefits depending on the severity of her injuries. In addition, if she is very severely injured, she may be able to sue Michelle Chandler's estate for additional damages. She should discuss her injuries with a lawyer to determine if she has this option.
