A Park Township car accident has left three people in the hospital. The accident occurred on December 6, 2008 in St. Joseph County. Randy Iuliano, 56, of Portage, lost control of his Jeep on U.S. 131 and crossed the median, where he hit a van driven by Bruce Steegstra, 62, of Apache Junction, Arizona. Bruce Steegstra and his passenger Shelly Steegstra were trapped in their van. All three people were taken to the hospital for treatment.
I am very sorry this accident occurred. Police are still investigating the causes of the accident, but a picture of the wreckage shows the roads were snowy. I hope these people fully recover and I hope that everyone uses caution when driving in winter weather.
All three of these people should make a claim for Michigan No Fault benefits. Even though Bruce and Shelly Steegstra are from Arizona, they can still collect insurance benefits through the Michigan Assigned Claims Facility. They should consult a Michigan lawyer to help them handle any issue that might arise under Michigan law because they are from a different state.
No Fault insurance will pay for all medical expenses and attendant care benefits. In addition, No Fault insurance will pay for lost wages and household replacement services for up to three years. If their injuries are severe and they are determined to be free of fault, Bruce and Shelly Steegstra may be able to file a lawsuit to seek additional damages.
