Hospital Fall In Shower Injury Lawsuit Filed - Kalamazoo Medical Malpractice

Comments (0)
We recently filed a lawsuit against a Kalamazoo hospital on behalf of a woman who fell due to a defective shower while admitted to the hospital.  She was given permission to use the shower in her room by the nurse the day after she underwent a cardiac procedure.  The patient was not attended or monitored while in the shower.  The shower was not equipped with shower bars, slip resistant flooring, or any other safety features.

While in the shower, the patient slipped and fell and suffered serious injuries.  These include multiple rib fractures and a torn left rotator cuff injury.  She has undergone two surgeries to repair her rotator cuff injury.  She has ongoing pain and disability in her shoulder.

The lawsuit alleges that the hospital was negligent in failing to provide necessary safety features in the shower.  Additionally, the suit alleges tha the nursing staff should have assisted and monitored the patient while in the shower to prevent a fall injury.  No trial date has been set by the court.
