Our Michigan dog bite lawyers recently filed a lawsuit on behalf of nine year old boy who was bitten on the face when he was just two years old. The dog was owned by a family friend. The family was delivering holiday cookies when the bite occurred.
The child has permanent scar on his face as a result of the vicious attack. A plastic surgeon will determine if the scar may be revised in the future, but this typically is not done until the child reaches his teenage years. This means that the boy will have a disfiguring scar through his adolescence years. These types of scars have a significant psychological effect on the child and self-esteem issues often arise, especially because many children often tease or ridicule another child with an observable scar.
The suit was filed in the Cass County Circuit Court in Cassopolis, Michigan. The lawsuit seeks damages for the pain and suffering caused by the bite, the past and future medical expenses, and the psychological injuries suffered by the boy. The insurance company for the dog owner will defend the case. No date has been set for a jury trial in this matter.
